Is there software to connect a Canon IP 3500 Inkjet printer to a MacBook Pro?

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch) and need to connect a Canon IP 3500 Inkjet printer.

I checked the Canon website but but could not find a driver or software for this. They referred you back to Apple.

Is there software available that will let me connect the printer to the MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

If Canon completely stopped support, there's not much choice. I would download and try whatever "outdated" version is available on their website. Sometimes, just because it's not supported or wasn't tested with a specific macOS version doesn't mean it won't work.

See also if this option works out better than the generic-printer driver that's built into the OS.

What to do if your printer driver is incompatible?

I appreciate your assistance.

I downloaded the drivers and installed them. Software for a number of Canon printers was installed.

However, the Canon Pixma iP 3500 was not in the list. There was an iP 3600 so I tried that but it does not work properly.

Any other thoughts on how to get the correct driver for this printer?
