Garageband built-in recording size limit??

Wanted to record a live performance by my group. We would do 12 songs, during approx one hour. I'm not a heavy Garageband user, but I thought, "I'll set it to record and leave it, and split the recording afterwards, so I can concentrate on the playing".

After the performance, I find a message on the iPad, saying, "You reached the maximum recording size of 640 (or whatever) bars", and the recording had finished. So, what I got was just the first 20 minutes of the show.

Thank you very much, Apple. The resulting recorded file size is 25 MB. I have 78 free GB on my device.

Lesson learned: Next time, use another recording app.

Would it make sense to ask for a setting to specify max allowed recording size? Or have GB auto-start a new file? Or something? Or what did I miss?

Thanks for the tip; couldn't find the iTalk recorder, maybe a geolocation thing, but got something similar. At times, you just need something with a big "Record" button, for documentation purposes.

GB seems like a flashy toy for those who can't be bothered to learn a real DAW, nor play a real instrument.

Naïvely assumed any size limits would come from the hardware - should have known better 😉
