Name of compter in Google Chrome history

Good afternoon,

I have recently bought a Macbook Pro from a friend. I have created my account, and after we have finalized the deal, we have jointly deleted his account on the Macbook. Since then I am the only user of the computer, but every time when I check my browser Google Chrome on my iPad Pro, to check the history, I found the old name of the compter not mine. I have made all the necessary changes but it still shows the old name.

Could you please help by telling me if there is a way to change it? Instead of Awada's MacBook Pro (which is my name and what I have mentioned in preferences and sharing, I always got Embry-MacBook-Pro (which is the name of my friend).

The log is a record of the way it was at a certain time in the past. You cannot easily change that.

Going forward, the new name should be reflected in all future log entries.

Thanks for your reply, but I have already done it. In the top box, I have made the change, after unlocking the preferences. The computer is identified as mine, but what I want to know is how could I change the way it appears in the Google Chrome browser history log. It always shows the previous name of the computer.

Thanks. It helps me. I have finally found the solution: I have signed out in all Google Chrome browser and log on again, and it works. The name of my computer has been displayed as it is now in preferences. I think that it has restarted the log with new data, as you have mentioned it above. The issue is solved! 🙂

System preferences > Sharing

... the computer name is in the top box.

That is not very intuitive, but that is where is can be changed.

Aha, I see now.

I was going to suggest you restart your computer if the new name did not seem to be in use. You have solved that problem with a much gentler approach.
