OpenVpn and iCloud not sync'ing

Hello, I looked this up in google but did not find an answer.

I am using OpenVpn in iOS and when activated, nothing syncs to iCloud, Siri does not work. When I deactivate OpenVpn, all rush to sync with iCloud, Siri is available, etc.

I am not sure the reasons of this. I think there was a bug back 2014 but I do not know how to solve this now, which settings I should change to make iCloud sync when under VPN.

Any idea, suggestion, etc. are welcome and appreciated.

Using OpenVPN 1.1.1 Build 212 and iPhone / iPad on 10.3.3.

Cheers,

C.

I'm having a similar problem on my iMac (MacOS 10.13) running Viscosity to connect to IPVanish VPN via OpenVPN. When I'm connected to OpenVPN no iCloud syncing takes place. Disconnect and it all whizzes into action.

Interestingly, icloud syncing on my iPhone 7 (11.0.1) DOES work when connected to the same VPN, however it uses IKEv2 protocol not OpenVPN.

I have also tried using Tunnelblick instead of Viscosity but have the same problem.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks
