What's the Use of .cdr When its Really Just an .iso?

Hi. How come Apple uses .cdr for naming the image of the master copy of a disk, when it's really an .iso. Why not just name it .iso to save users from renaming it?

Thank you in advance.

Thanks:-) I've already suggested it at feedback, before I inquired. I just wanted to ask what is .cdr, the internet says it's a CorelDraw format but then Apple may also have ownership of the .cdr format.

More importantly, if you change it to .iso would that diminish the "cloning" of the DVD/CD? What is the advantage of a .cdr format?

Thanks. Gbu.
