USB Hub vs Midi Patch Bay in Re-Assembling Home Studio after 2 years

I've got my late 2013 MAC Pro (sierra, 3.7Ghz Quad Core, 64RAM, 1Tb memory) running LPX, & am just getting to hooking up my home studio again after 2 years (house fire). My new outboard gear includes a Roland TR8 drum machine, Roland 404SX sampler, Komplete Keyboard controller (w/ NI Komplete Ultimate), Moog Sub37, Boss GI10 Midi guitar, RME UFX interface > do I want to use the tried true old Midi cable hookups into my MOTU MidiXT (8midi in/out) -or- run everything except the RME through a USB hub? I guess there is a question within the question > is the MOTU Midi XT still relevant? FYI my primary instrument is guitar, but I rely heavily on my keyboards too. Last, I have an 8TB external HD that I'm presently trying to figure out how to properly load all Logic & NI Komplete content - that will free my computer up so that its main task is recording w/ LPX.

Mac Pro (Late 2013), macOS Sierra (10.12.6), maxed RAM to 64GB

The original RME UFX was Firewire, is yours a UFX II?

Personally... I would prefer to use the MOTU as it's less of a USB load than several independent USB devices plugged into the computer. Plus, MOTU makes excellent drivers, I think your overall timing feel will be better with the MOTU.

If the RME UFX is a version II USB you definitely should use the MOTU.
