Apple Carplay Audio Source Issue

I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 10.3.3, and my car stereo is a Pioneer AVH4100-NEX. Apple Carplay used to work fine until iOS 10.3.2, but since then sound for phone calls will not come through the radio. The incoming call displays on the radio screen and when I hit "Answer" the phone automatically goes into private mode, which means I have to pick the phone up and put it on Speaker to hear the call. I also noticed that when I pick the phone up there is no option for "Audio Source" as there used to be.

I have limited this to an Apple Carplay issue because as soon as I unplug my phone from the Radio and discontinue Apple Carplay, calls will display, and answer through the radio, and my iPhone contains the "Audio Source" button again, where I can choose the audio source to AVH4100-NEX, Speaker Phone, or Private.

Any ideas why this may be happening?

Thanks,

- Dan

I think this was answered, I had such a hard time finding this out. The HU has a front and rear channel. The audio for phone and siri in bluetooth or carplay is the front channel. IF the rear is used then you have no audio for the phone. You can test this by playing any source and then moving your fader all the way to the front. if the sound stops then there is your answer. You have to change the hookup and use the front channel. This will go to the amp in the car and then all the speakers will work and you will have phone and siri audio.

After numerous trips to installer and updating firmware and BT software, I called pioneer and they knew about this issue immediately. Hope this helps

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.

I just bought a new after market stereo for my car. Everything works with apple carplay except the phone app. I am having the exact same issue as Dan. I only have the option to turn on my phone speaker when making or receiving calls. Audio works fine from every other app. I have an iphone 7 with IOS 11.0.3.

Did anyone find a fix for this?
