It will get hot normally when you are charging the battery. As for when you are using the computer, I can't say because you provided no information.

Use Activity Monitor to Kill Runaway Processes

Use Activity Monitor on your Mac

Runaway applications can shorten battery runtime, affect performance, and increase heat and fan activity.

Should the above not prove helpful, then make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple.

I also have this problem. I just brought this new Mac Pro on November, and when I use it on my desk without any cover. It always get hot and overheat, which makes really worried! I cannot use it for my work now! And the battery run a little bit fast, around 3mins from 18% to 17%.

This is a new Mac Pro. I don't use it for watching videos, just use it for works, using software like Safari, Evernote, or Finder.

I have MacBook pro, as soon as I start using my laptop its get hot.
