Can i lock my watch while tracking activity?

I have a lot of trouble with my activity tracking pausing or stopping during activity, especially boxing where my gloves can press on the side buttons. Is there any way to lock the watch, or does anyone have any activity tracking apps that may be better for this purpose?

Apple Watch Series 2, watchOS 3.2.3

Hi

To prevent accidental interactions with the buttons and screen on your Apple Watch when recording workouts via the Workout app (such as activating Siri by pressing and holding down the Digital Crown and/or pausing or ending workouts), you can lock your Apple Watch for the duration of your workout.

Instructions for doing so are provided here:

End, pause, or lock

This helps prevent everything except pausing by hitting the crown and side button at the same time. Unfortunately for me, when I put my gloves on, this sequence hits. So, although it locks the screen until you turn the Digital Crown, it doesn't prevent pausing via the two physical buttons.

Another option is to wear your Apple Watch with the buttons on the other side. Apple Watch watch can be worn on either wrist and with the buttons on either side. To change the configuration:

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Watch Orientation > choose the preferred wrist and the side on which the buttons will be located.

Thanks, that’s a decent workaround I was aware of. Prior to the Apple Watch S3, I used my Garmin 935 for all workout tracking. When you lock that watch, it locks all buttons until an intentional action is taken. I would love for the AW to have that. The implementation now helps for screen touch, which is great for many things, but not the issue with pausing non-intentional with physical buttons.

I have 2.5 years of wearing my AW a certain way, I don’t want to change that. (With the S1, I wore AW for everything except workouts and the garmin for workouts).
