As the 2nd article points out, they are capable of regenerating after deletion with files that go to many parts of the system.

Safari/Browsers – can’t delete cookies

Evercookie

The myth of the dangerous cookie

Quit Safari.

In Finder go to Go menu and then Go to Folder.

Copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/Databases.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Launch Safari again and check if all is ok.

If that doesn’t work, copy and paste this ~/Library/Safari/LocalStorage.

Delete the contents of the folder.

Then go to Safari/History and delete any entries for the related websites.

Test.

I really apprieciate the quick response. I tried both ways but no success. I went to Go then down to folders, then put in each of the instructions each time. I hit entered and nothing happened then I used delete. then I went back to Safari and cleared all History, then to Preferences

then manage website data then Remove all. but they remained there.Did I do something wrong? I have a Mac Pro mid 2015 with 10.11.6 os

Clarification questions - when you used the Go command were you in Finder? Did you paste in the command in? Were you taken to the folders?

o to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library/Safari. That should give you access to the 2 folders.
