Windows 7 Graphics Driver issue (imac late 2009)

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my Late 2009 imac. [11,1.]

I used Bootcamp Assistant to create a Windows partition etc. etc.

All the Bootcamp Support drivers I believe are up to date. I can use USB devices just fine.

However, I'm having issues with Windows updating the graphics/display card.

There are some games I would like to play that I know the machine can run, yet I get error messages saying "No graphics/display card detected."

I go into Device Manager and see that it says "Standard VGA" driver which is not the right graphics driver for this computer.

The computer runs on AMD Graphics Drivers.

So I uninstall the driver. I find the right graphics driver for the computer, however it won't let me install it. It says, "Parameter incorrect."

Strangely enough, it will let me install the "Standard VGA" driver again.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could help me. What am I doing wrong?

First off, I have an ATI graphics card. For some reason I got it confused with AMD, sorry. I don't know if that makes a difference though. lol.

So I went with option 2, as when I had the previous bootcamp, it always had the standard VGA driver. But the graphics card in my mac machine right now is an ATI one.

So I'm doing option 2 and starting over because maybe I didn't install right as you said.

I deleted the bootcamp partition.

So I'm supposed to first format a flash drive by MSDOS FAT and set it to Master Boot Record and name the disk MBRFAT, then copy and paste the graphics files into the root of the drive? I did that with no problem.

Then with the flash drive still plugged into the back of the terminal, I'm supposed to make a windows bootcamp partition right?

I'm able to do this until I get a screen saying that the USB which contains the graphic drivers, contains a boot drive. In order to proceed with creating a partition, it needs to disable the drive. In other words, whether I pressed continue and it ignored/disabled or unplugged/ejected the drive, it would have the same effect right right?

My issue is, is that the usb drive needs to be plugged in while my hard drive is being partitioned right? Or does it have to?

Because what I have tried is unplugging/ejecting the drive and that screen did not pop up.

I would then plug the drive in during installation before the mac chime, yet I get another issue.

During the windows 7 setup installion, it tells me that there are missing drivers and it cannot complete the installation. I tell it to load from the USB and it doesn't.

I have heard this issue is from a faulty or corrupt or dirty Windows Installation disk. This doesn't apply here as the disk I'm using is not dirty.

Some people have said that to just try again and again and that screen won't pop up. I think this is connected to the dirty disk

Some people have said go into the setup and disable driver signing. Well I don't want to do that.

Some people have said I'm getting that screen because I'm trying to install 64 bit drivers on a 32 bit mac which is what I think I have. So then what do I do?

Please help I'm confused right now.

If that was the case, then I would not be able to see anything on the display. The display is just fine and has fine resolution.

The graphic card works, it's just for some reason a default version or model, and not the right one that my computer can handle. As I said I want to play games on the computer.

At the start of the post, I said got the OS running fine. I didn't experience that black screen issue when I installed the OS. It installed just fine within like 10 minutes or so. The USB problems and sound problems that many people have, don't apply to me as I updated all the bootcamp drivers. I assumed the graphics drivers and junk would follow suit but apparently not.

But there is something wrong, to where it's not letting me update the graphics/display driver.

Is there any type of way I can install something to fix this? Are there updated drivers I don't know about? Why is it telling me "incorrect parameter." I heard people say you have mess and tink around with the registry editor. I don't know.

You have two choices.

1. Since the Standard VGA driver works, but will not support games properly, you can try bootcampdrivers.com and see if there is a driver available?

2. If the original install of W7 did not follow the standard procedure, can you confirm that you had an AMD driver running at some point in the past, instead of the Standard VGA being present since day 1 when W7 was installed? If you always were on the Standard VGA driver, you are using a Windows default driver and need to re-install W7 using the procedure outlined. The AMD Apple variants do not work very well with stock AMD drivers available from Windows.
