How do I delete an Apple Watch from devices?

How do I delete a series 1 Apple Watch from my devices? I unpaired it, have already paired my new series 2 Apple Watch, and the person I gave the series 1 to is getting a message I need to delete from my Apple devices.

Turn off Activation Lock before you send your Apple Watch in for service, sell it, or give it away

Before you send your Apple Watch in for service, sell it, or give it away, you should turn off Activation Lock on your Apple Watch. Just unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone:

  1. Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone close together.
  2. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab.
  3. Tap your watch name at the top of the screen, then tap User uploaded file.
  4. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
  5. Enter your Apple ID password. If you forgot your Apple ID password, you can reset it.
  6. Tap again to confirm.

If you can't access your iPhone or Apple Watch, or if your Apple Watch isn't paired with your iPhone and you need to turn off Activation Lock:

  1. On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Go to Find My iPhone.
  3. Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.
  4. Click Erase Apple Watch. Select Next until the device is erased.
  5. Click User uploaded file next to your Apple Watch.

Hi

If you have already followed the steps here to remove Activation Lock (which your questions appears to indicate is the case):

Then it may help if the buyer follows these steps:

On their iPhone: close the Watch app (double-press on the Home button, then swipe up on the Watch app preview).

Restart both their iPhone and Apple Watch, turning both off together, then restarting their iPhone first:

Re-try pairing and setting up the Apple Watch:

If the Apple Watch then remains locked by Activation Lock, either:

Accompany the buyer and the Apple Watch to a Genius Bar appointment, taking along your original proof of purchase for the watch.

Or arrange for the Apple Watch to be returned to you, re-pair it with your iPhone and then unpair it via the Watch app to erase it and remove Activation Lock before returning it to the buyer.

Or contact Apple Support and explain that you have been unable to remove Activation Lock from an Apple Watch that you have sold:

Note that you should not disclose your Apple ID and password to the buyer, even if you change your password again afterwards:
