Repair cost outrageous!

The power button on my iPhone is messed up. Took it in to have it diagnosed and they said because we don't have warranty I'll have to pay $349.00 to have the power button replaced. I only have left owing $240.00. They say it's the cost of the phone.

Has anyone had this happen? Why am I not only charged the cost of maintenance on the power button?

Apple doesn't simply repair the button. They swap out the phone. An out-of-warranty replacement unit is generally about half the cost of a new phone, so, yes that amount sounds right.

How much you have left to pay off on the phone is not relevant to the cost of the repair.
