VPN App on iPad: How Does It Work?

Hi all,

I need the wisdom of the Apple Communities!

I've never tried using a VPN app on my iPad so I'm really nervous about this.

The VPN app I've purchased is called "F-Secure FreedomE VPN" and here is the link: F-Secure FREEDOME VPN | Protect your privacy

This is my big worry:

That I'll be using this F-Secure FreedomE VPN app on my iPad and I'll be thinking that it's running, but in reality my true IP address is actually being displayed when I'm using apps like Safari and Netflix.

Is it as simple as turning this VPN app on and using my iPad as I normally would?

Basically, they work the same way. Regardless of platform, a VPN creates a secure link over the Internet to the VPN-provider's network. The key to look for is if this provider can be trusted to keep your data secure once its on their network.

Yes you can just turn them on and off and sometimes select the location you want it to look like you're at. While you have it off use a site to check your IP address then do it again when you have the VPN on to make sure it's working.

The VPN works by changing the routing tables so all internet access is passed through it, instead of directly to the router. It encrypts the traffic and sends it to the VPN server you selected. On the internet, your traffic appears to come from the server. You can tell the VPN is working when you see the VPN icon in the iPad status bar.

If you are trying to stream something not available/playable in your region without vpn turned on and if it works with VPN turned on then rest assured that your IP address has changed. Like Tesserax mentioned, they are definitely not 100% safe hence would recommend not doing any financial transactions or logins to banking websites. other wise to bypassregional restrictions its a great choice.

try Turbo VPN its free and hav choices of locations as well.
