Iphone 6 won't recognize charging cable

I have an iphone 6 that no longer recognizes the charging cable. My phone battery died and I cannot charge it. There is nothing in the port blocking the cable from contacting the pins. I have tried swapping different cables - all original iphone cables. I cannot hard reset the phone because it is dead.

What can I do here other than return the phone?

This is the 3rd iphone 6 that I have owned that has had a major issue. The first was a battery that had a very short life, the second was a screen that would flash on and off, and now a phone that won't charge. All three phones were in near new condition when the failure occurred. The first two were replaced with the AT&T warranty program. I haven't decided what to do about the 3rd. I'm simply shocked at the terrible reliability of this device. I have had every iphone since it was invented and this is the first time I'm experiencing phones that are practically dead on arrival. Have other people experienced something similar with iphone 6?

Hi glennonfromhouston,

I have witnessed a problem similar to this on an iPhone 5 model. I solved this by plugging the device into my laptop USB port, leaving it to charge for about half an hour and then holding the lock and home button.

I held the lock and home button for a rather long time, longer than the normal hard reset (around 30 seconds) before the phone actually booted up again.

Give this a shot and see how it goes.
