2 iPhones Sharing One eMail Address

One of the addresses that I get mail from is a - xxxxxx@mac.com - address. Is it possible to configure my wife's

iPhone 7 so that she also receives mail that is addressed to the above address ?

Hello ttibsen,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I understand you’d like to use an email address on both your and your wife’s iPhone, and I have some information that may help.

You can add the same email address to multiple devices using the steps in the article below. The only time this may be an issue is if the account you are using is a POP email, which, by design, only allows the message to be downloaded to one device even if the email account is setup in multiple places.

Hello ttibsen,

Because you are setting up this account as just an email rather than as the iCloud account that the phone will back up to and sync with, you can select “Other” when setting it up. In doing so you may need to enter some of the settings for the account manually. Have a look at the article below for the necessary settings for your @Mac.com account.

So I tap on Accounts in Mail on my wife's iPhone and the next window that shows up lists the accounts -

iCloud

xxxxxx@northwestel.net (this is the primary address I use on my iMac and iPhone)

Add Account

Just to reiterate, the address that I am trying to add to her phone is -

xxxxxx@mac.com

since this in address in the cloud, I assume that I have to select iCloud from my 3 options above

When I do that, this is the window that comes up -

User uploaded fileso I then turn on Mail and I am then asked to create a free

@icloud.com e-mail address to turn on iCloud Mail. So I then enter the xxxxxx@mac.com which is my address that I want functioning on her phone and I am greeted by the following dialog box <<this e-mail address is already taken. Try picking a new one>>. Well yes I know that it's already taken but I thought that following these steps would enable my address to work on her phone. Clearly this isn't the case. Where did I go wrong?
