recurring black screen on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 imac but the computer is still working. I have tried smc and pram reset plus siera 10.12.6 reinstall with erase all before hand.

recurring black screen on imac with sierra 10.12.6. smc and pram reset plus new instalation of 10.12.6 with total erase does not seem to have solved the problem. Although it does help at first. but the problem keeps on recurring. What could be the next step.

thanks in advance

Hallo Eric

thank you for your reply. i have reinstalled macosx Sierra 10.12.6. again After saving all my data to a external harddisk. It seemed as if the problem with the black screen was indeed over and done with. (About a week) But as i was copying my music back on to the mac ( external Harddrive with usb connection ) and online the blackscreen was there multiple times. each time i could get it back on with the on butten beening pressed multiple times. After disconnecting the drive and restarting i was able to continue to copy the data on to the mac. I have left the mac osx as origional as possible not making many preference changes. A few programs have been added. For whatever reasons it maybe happening it is not happing now. whow, if you have any ideas let me know i appreciate it.

thanks pat
