If you are pairing your Apple Watch to another iPhone under the same Apple ID as the old iPhone, then it is not necessary to remove Activation Lock from the watch. Follow these steps:
Erase / unpair your Apple Watch manually:
- On your Apple Watch: when viewing the time, go to the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown) > Settings (cog icon) > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.
Before pairing your Apple Watch to your new iPhone, ensure that your iPhone is up to date with the latest version of iOS:
Pair your Apple Watch, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option (if an update is available for watchOS, then it will also be installed as part of the set up process):
