changing MAC address

When I try to change my MAC address on my Yosemite Mac also known as Ethernet address I noticed it doesn't accept or change for certain MAC addresses. For example if I issue the command sudi ifconfig en1 ether 35:60:90:19:ef:90, the MAc address does not change to the commanded MAC address. But other MAC addresses will work only a select few do not. Can anyone tell me why this occurs

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

As per this article : Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

MAC address authentication or filtering

Restricts access to a Wi-Fi router to devices with specific MAC (Media Access Control) addresses.

Set to: Disabled - By default

When enabled, this feature allows a user to configure a list of MAC addresses for the Wi-Fi router, and restrict access to devices with addresses that are on the list. Devices with MAC addresses not on the list will fail to associate with the Wi-Fi network. MAC addresses can be changed easily, so don't rely on them to prevent unauthorized access to the network.

M.A.C. Addresses are manufactured into devices to uniquely identify them, and should NOT be changed under ordinary circumstances. If this is a bug, it is unlikely that Apple or anyone else will provide a fix.

IP addresses are changed all the time, but IPConfig is NOT the tool you should be using to make these changes.

The Address you cited could be an IPv6 Address, but outside of a few large commercial networks, IPv6 is enabled, but NOT currently in use by most individual Users. In most cases, IPv6 should be set to "link-local only".

What problem are you trying to solve?

If I am confused, it is because your post above has confused me.

Perhaps if you had made clear why you needed to change something designed to be invariant, I could have provided more assistance. Everything I know about you is in your terse post above. And based on that, I assumed you needed to do what most Users need to do, which is change your IP Address.
