ihpne 7plus only charges on a 500mA charger

The iPhone stopped responding when plugged into any charger, Apple or third party unless the charge rate was 500mA. We have 2.1A, 1A and 500mA the letter is third party. The others all work with other iPhones so nothing wrong with the chargers. It is like the charging regulation hardware or software is faulty on this particular phone. Any suggestions?
