Along with that -- I've never experienced this symptom as caused by permission issues. In the following HT regarding home folder permissions, it's stated as one that's possible:

You get an alert that the startup disk has no more space available for application memory.

It'd be worth a quick try: Resolve issues caused by changing the permissions of items in your home folder - Apple Support

It does appear that some process or processes are leaking memory. Memory leaks can be difficult to isolate.

If it was your intent to rid your Mac of Google products, you didn't complete that task. The "keystone" agents and daemons are system modifications installed by Google, as are its obscurely named "o1dbrowserplugin" and "googletalkbrowserplugin". Although it remains to be seen if it is contributing factor at all, Google products are a notorious resource hog on both Macs and PCs and will greedily take all the memory it wants for its own purposes. As a rule I do not modify macOS but as far as I know Google's uninstallation instructions are effective, so if you want to uninstall it consult them.

There are a number of other potential culprits that are at least as likely to be the cause as the invasive Google products. Isolating memory leaks is often accomplished by trial and error: uninstall a product and observe the effects over a sufficient period of time, after which you can at your option reinstall the suspect product and determine if excessive memory leaks return. Start with things you are certain you don't need – "chumsearch" for example is adware and for all I know so is "searchtab". In addition to them you probably don't need any of the Adobe Internet Plug-ins, "Bartender", "Hazel", "Silverlight" or "Flash Player" either, so get rid of them until you are certain you need them. Then, always be mindful of possible unexpected effects.

Another possible troubleshooting method is to use macOS's leaks command, but it may be difficult to discriminate between processes that don't leak excessively from the problematic ones. To learn how to use leaks read https://developer.apple.com/legacy/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPag es/man1/leaks.1.html (although as it states those pages are no longer maintained – use the man command for accurate instructions).

Lastly please bear in mind that "killed" is a programing term of art that does not in itself indicate any reason for concern. It is completely normal for macOS to "kill" memory resident processes that are no longer needed. macOS is designed to use as much RAM as it can, to maximize performance and minimize power requirements. It is not normal for it to "run out of application memory" though. If that problem is fixed, then you're done.

What is the exact error message?

Is it "Your system has run out of application memory."?

If that is the case, you have a process, or a set of processes that are using excessive amounts of virtual memory, until the operating system takes up so much memory managing virtual memory page tables, it would eventually leave no room for user data. Before that happens, the operating system issues the error message "Your system has run out of application memory."

If this is the case, then when you are think you are near to getting that error message, issue the following command from an Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal session

ps axo vsz,comm | sort -n

This will display all the processes and the amount of virtual memory each is using in 1024 (kilobyte) units. The process (or set of processes) at the end of the list, will most likely be the ones using all the memory.

If that is not the error you are getting, can you please provide the error message wording?

By the way. Did you load all of the 3rd party additions on to this new system, or did you use Migration Assistant to bring over years of collected junk from a previous Mac (or years of Macs)?

You might want to Click on the [Clean Up] button to remove the orphaned files.

You think might want to review all the 3rd party kernel extensions, launch daemons, launch agents, login items, etc... that EtreCheck is showing, and weed out the stuff that is no longer used, needed, or you do not recognize.

Well is looks like Google Chrome is using 117,329,024 kilobytes of virtual memory (that is 117 billion bytes of virtual memory).

So if I had to guess, I would say Chrome is not your friend.

I also see you have a memory cleaner. It is NOT going to reduce virtual memory usage, so if that is why you installed, it I suggest you remove it. Mac cleaners, memory cleaners, and anti-virus packages tend to interfere with normal macOS operations.

I used the following to add up the amount of virtual memory being used by Chrome

awk '/Chrome/ { sum += $1 } END { print sum }' tmp.file.with.ps.command.output.from.your.reply

If you wanted to re-run this looking at other programs where there are multiple copies running you could do

ps axo vsz,comm | awk '/Chrome/ { sum += $1 } END { print sum }'

and substitute whatever string you want to search for where I have /Chrome/

Eric thanks. I will do that. Are you saying that I should not use Google Programs in the future? Or are you saying there is something wrong with my current installation of Google Programs and it is leaking and using a lot of memory?

The reason I ask is because I have other MacBooks and IMAcs where I use Google Chrome with 15 tabs open all day long and they do not have this problem.

some things I see:

- uninstall the Seagate software: counterproductive, can cause issues (Seagate Dashboard, in SystemPreferences).

- use the CleanUp button in the etrecheck list.

- remove all entries in the SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems, with the minus sign underneath the list. (Dropbox may come back later).

then restart

- now uninstall the Google apps, (you may re-install Chrome later, if you insist).

- Uninstall the Wunderlist app completely: it should not return, sloppy programmed.

- I think the Transcend software is counterproductive too, uninstall it completely.
