can't create new project/trailer

I have Macbook Air. OS X El Capitan 10.11.6..
Everything was working fine, but recently I couldn't create new movie/trailer.
I have more than enough free space and my iMovie is upgraded. Tried to delete .plst files from preferences as other people suggested, but it isn't there. Does anyone have any suggestions what can I do?

Try opening iMovie in a new library by launching iMovie while holding down just the Option key. You will get a box that will let you open iMovie in one of your other libraries or in a newly created library. Then try opening a project.

With iMovie 10.x.x, the way to delete preferences is to open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys, and then deleting preferences in the box that appears. Try that and see if it solves it.

Another thing, you can't open a new project or trailer while another project is still open. So be sure that you have sent your last worked on project to the project browser by clicking on the Projects back button at the top left of your screen when you are in timeline view. (At least, this is my recollection. I don't have iMovie on the device I am presently using, to test it out.)
