Lost Recovery Key and Password

So, I lost my recovery key and password. I did as suggested, and created a new apple ID. However, now I have another problem on my iPhone and MacBook Pro. When I try and sign out of the old apple ID, it requests my password in order to sign out. BUT I can't do that because i don't remember my password which is the only reason why I created a new Apple ID. HELP!!!!! 😟

Have you tried resetting your password at http://iforgot.apple.com ? A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work (for example because it's being sent to the account you can't get into) you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click 'See all products and services', then 'More', then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. They will need to be able to identify you, obviously, but there's a good chance that they can give you a new password, which would then enable you to get into the account (since you apparently have your trusted device).

If you are able to get into the account, create a new Recovery Key and make sure not to lose it. If you lose both it and the trusted device Apple will not be able to help you.

Looking at the documentation, I'm afraid you may well be stuck. They say:

.....................

Only you can reset your password, manage your trusted devices, or create a new Recovery Key. Apple Support can help you with other aspects of your service, but they aren't able to update or recover these three things for you. When you use two-step verification, you are responsible for:

  • Remembering your password
  • Keeping your trusted devices physically secure
  • Keeping your Recovery Key in a safe place

If you lose access to two of these three items at the same time, you could be locked out of your Apple ID permanently.

.......................

You could try Support on the basis of security, but it doesn't look hopeful. This Apple Help page provides contact information for various countries for security problems with an Apple ID:

Yes I tried resetting my password, but I misplaced my recovery key, and it asks for my recovery key in order to reset my password. Last time I spoke to someone, they said I probably had to create a new Apple ID, but now in order to put new information into my phone, I need to sign out of my old apple ID. But that's the problem, I cant sign out of my old account since I don't know my password 😟
