Yahoo takes over my google search engine on safari

I did a search for this topic and it came up in 2014. I am now having this problem. I'm checked and google is my default browser. All extensions, except for adblockplus were removed, and I turned adblock off and restarted my computer to test. I even downloaded http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php that someone in 2014 suggested, and ran the scan and nothing was found. I've restarted my computer and yahoo is still taking over search from google - even in google maps. Nothing seems to be working. Any new solutions out there? Thanks.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

I'm not sure this will help but, try running this program in your normal account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

This worked for me. Google was set in my preferences but simply typing in the safari search bar always brought up results in Yahoo. I had only one extension (within safari preferences) and it was "anysearch.safariextz". Bye-bye anysearch, bye-bye yahoo. Success! Thanks, Eric.

Did you check to see if the default search engine was changed in the 'Preferences' of Safari?

Try setting it as your home page in Safari/Preferences/General.

Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.
