How can I read an ext4 fs external hard drive?

I found these instructions on OSX Dailyand I installed the latest version of FUSE for macOS and then rebooted but as soon as I plug in the hard drive I get an error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer."

Disk Utility appears to correctly detect the disk as a linux partition.

I really need to just read a file from this drive, I don't need to write. What can I do?
