When I search for "FaceTime" in app store (from iPhone or iTunes) -- it's not there. In iTunes I search for all apps by "Apple" -- many builtin apps show, but no FaceTime. Can I not find it, or is it not there?
Makes it very difficult to restore.

When I search for "FaceTime" in the (U.S.) App Store, I find it just fine.
So it sounds like you have some other issue. Perhaps you're in a region where FaceTime is prohibited. Perhaps you have some restriction on your iPhone. Perhaps you misspelled "FaceTime".

This may be a shot in the dark, but.... When I search the App Store on my iPhone, I see this:
..... with no sign of the "Apple FaceTime" App anywhere in that list. If I now tap the Search button at the bottom of the list, I see the screenshot as posted by sberman above.

It does not show up in iTunes on my Mac either (even though it does show up in the App Store on my iPhone). I believe this is by design.
Of course, you could use your Mac to restore your iPhone which should bring back FaceTime, as well as the rest of the latest iOS version.

After experimenting on my device I found that If you restricted FaceTime in the settings, it will not show up in the app store for download.
Settings>General>Restrictions>Facetime. Make sure you didn't restrict it.
The iPhone6 model is NG4W2LL/A. Under restrictions FaceTime is greyed out. There is no "FaceTime" entry under the main Setting page. Disabling restrictions doesn't help. And I don't understand why it would not show up in iTunes on my Mac.

I'm in the US. My iTunes & iPhone app stores show the following:
You did not spell "FaceTime" precisely as I did. Try again, this time paying close attention to capitalization.
Never mind the above, you do have some other issue.
What is the model number of your iPhone? Settings>General>About>Model.
You may have to scroll to see the entry for Model.
It doesn't show up on my Mac in the App Store either.
FaceTime app is missing in app store.
