Can I watch eclipse on my iPhone?

I don't care about picture but just to watch eclipse over my shoulder (in selfie mode) from my phone?

Pointing just about any digital camera at the sun long enough will damage the sensor. A still shot won’t but a prolonged video shot will, with or without an eclipse in progress. The lens concentrates light on the sensor and will cook it basically. And that applies whenever pointing a digital camera at the sun - eclipse (other than the 2 min 40 sec in the totality zone) makes no difference in that.


So individual stills would be fine but a lengthy video no. And neither will look any good at all without a filter as it’s way too much light and will overload the sensor so all you’ll video record is glare and sensor bloom.
