Moving iPhoto library from one external hard drive to another on Mac

Hi

Please can someone give me step-by-step instructions for moving my iPhoto library that I have on an external hard drive to another (larger memory) one, both of which are connected to my iMac.

Have had a basic "google" but want to make sure I get it right.

(There are some movie clips (shot on my iPhone) that I want to make sure transfer across as well as [art of this. I read a few replies that said "format the new hard drive" but there is already stuff on there so I assume I can't do that?)

Thanks in advance for your help.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Moving iPhoto Library to an external location:

Before doing so, make sure that the external drive is formatted as HFS Extended (Journaled).

Basically it's the same as when you moved it from your internal disk to the external:

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

1. Quit iPhoto

2. Copy the iPhoto Library from the current location to the larger Disk. Drag and drop will do that.

3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.

Regards
