How do I download higher resolution images from the cloud when I want to print on large format

How do I download a higher resolution image from the cloud. I recently took photos on a vacation on both a cannon and on my iPhone. All were backed up to the cloud and now I want to print a large format. All I am getting are very low res jpegs. What can I do?

iPhone 7, iOS 10.3.3

The iCloud Photo Library holds files at the original resolution. There are no larger files available.

Do you have the optimize photos setting enabled?

I just checked my settings and it is on optimize. Would it make sense to keep this marked on my mobile devices and then download a copy of the originals to a separate back up disk.
