I began creating a slideshow by choosing a person and found lots & lots of duplicate photos. Is there a tool within Photos to easily delete dups?
If not, what is the best & safest app to use for cleaning up this mess?

Gemini 2 works well on my Mac to find duplicate files, and it also available on Mac App Store. Thanks for your advice.
About the CleanMyMac, maybe you are right, it can't be used with Photos or iPhoto, but so far it's OK on my 10.12.6. I also read some reviews online:

These applications, the only apps that offer a demo version to test, will identify and help remove duplicate photos from a Photos Library:
PowerPhotos is the iPhoto Library Manager version for Photos and is very powerful. Although more expensive I would recommend it as it has more capabilities than the others like the capability to merge Photos libraries or copy photos along with their metadata between libraries.
there are three safe, tested duplicate elimination programs for Photos, I suggest using one of them - do not use any program that delete the duplicates itself - only use one like there that identifies them so you can use the Photos Application to delete them
PowerPhotos which I consider the best since it is very useful for many other functions than just duplicate elimination

Gemini 2 is by the same folks you bring you the Malwear CleanMyMac and like CleanMyMac it is a very dangerous application and should never be used with Photos or iPhoto - I recommend you remove it and pray that you have not damaged your system using it
The ones listed above are tested and safe - use one of them
