Make sure you have a valid email address for sending and receiving emails. If you need to change the email address on your Apple ID, see this:

In that doc, specifically see "Follow these steps to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID."

If you can’t receive and then respond to the email using your college email address, Apple can’t verify that you’re a student of a qualified institution and you won’t get the discouted rate.
