16X DVDs on 8X SuperDrive?

It is possible to burn 16x DVD disc's without any problem.
But they will be written with the maximum speed off 8x (because your drive can not faster).

It is also possible to burn 4x DVD disc's without any problem.
But they will be written with the maximum speed off 4x (because the disc can not faster).

I do have a large spinde DVD 16x disc's. My iBook with a 8x drive can burn them perfect!

Just a note,
The newer 16X media are in fact different.
Be sure you read the packaging. Not all of the 16X media will burn at the slower speeds.
Be sure when you read the packaging and be sure it will burn at 1x,2x,4x,8x,16x.
Even though most brands boast that they are reverse compatible some of the cheaper brands are not.

I personally use MAXELL 16X DVD-R and my burner is 4X Max.
One last note DVD-R Media is the most widely used and recognised by all computers and players. Your computer may handle +R and RW and even DL Media but not all other computers and players can read it.
