Final Cut Pro X: Missing transition

Hey everyone,

I am working with a video right now and trying to add in some third party transitions that I downloaded into my timeline but every time I try to use one of the transitions I it comes up as a missing file... I have moved the files into Movies>Motion Templates > Transitions. but FCP still gives me a missing file prompt. Do I need to update system/ software? or am I missing something?

If the version of Motion used to create the Transition is newer (in time, not version number) than the version of FCPX you are using, there will be some incompatibility. In general, FCPX will not run Motion templates with "future" version numbers. If there's nothing really "special" about the template, sometimes you can "back date" the version in the XML file and FCPX will run it. You have to make sure the template is not using any of the newer features released. The download page for 3D Luma Fade Transitions states that FCPX 10.3 is required. Based on what I saw in the video, it may be possible to back date that transition to FCPX 10.2.
