Does QuickTime 7 Pro work with High Sierra?

I left a question about this above, and to my surprise, when my search for answers wasn't successful, I went back to Quicktime 7, and the Registration panel now said QuickTime Pro. The menus all show. I'm not sure what happened, but there it is. So apparently, it's a little creaky, and it takes a while, but for me, it worked.

I'm having issues. For years it has worked just fine on all the upgrades in operating systems since Jan 2007. And now, after a flawless High Siera upgrade, the only problem I have is that Quicktime 7 Pro will no longer recognize my name and registration number even though I have it in an email from Apple. I have a call in since these days technical support with Apple just takes messages :-(

3. Reopen

and all the PRO features are unlocked

Yes' it did this before with the code not working on my purchased copy it is buggy i did it 3 times it then flickered and showed up "PRO" is there any alternative? as QT 10 is not 😉

useful software always gets killed off or never updated i could go on and on about products and software or even hardware that was useful that has now vanished....

The problem is that QT Player 7 is 32-bit app.

However, Apple said that High Sierra will be the last OS that supports 32bit apps, which means it still runs 32bit apps

And you are right, the "update" is one of so many software "updates" from Apple that are actually "downgrades" because they removed features (that users often relied on with their workflow). I also still using QT Player 7 and I feel your pain.

Quicktime 7 is still one of the best tools Apple EVER made

QT7pro is the swiss pocket knife for people that actually WORK with video… the new quicktime player is worth nothing in comparision. I think it was one of the strategic mistakes back at the time… when Apple moved away from the pro crowd and dumped the Quicktime framework as it used to be.

I love this little player… simple editing, adding sound-layers, preview frame sequences or extract videos in any compatibel Quicktime codec… THAT was usefull. The new player ist just crap.

Unfortunately, Apple has a long history of creating amazing software application and then ruin them or just discontinue them for no apparent reason.

So disappointed about quicktime. I can't access Quicktime at all. Also the fact that photobooks no longer has the options, backgrounds etc that we used to have. My business is digital scrapbooking and now I can't use it the way I need to. I have an old black macbook and it still runs decent programs so am cribbing those - such a pain and not a great compliment to my 2017 iMac and High Sierra. (Not everyone using Macs is in the Pixar league) And please don't tell me to go out and pay to get essential stuff elsewhere. What's up Apple? Don't your users matter at all when you wish to cut corners?

I'm interested in how the mediation works here - what does a reply require to have 'solved' status?

totally agree i only use QT7 the one that ships with the OS is pretty much useless to me. 😔
