Use 2 ethernet ports to share connection

Hi!

I am trying something that I dont know how to configure...

I have a modem connected to my mac pro via ethernet. I have internet connection.

I want to use the second ethernet port to connect it to a router I have - TP link 1042nd.

The purpose is to share the internet connection via ethernet to this router and to have wifi hotspot over this router.

I do not want to connect the modem to the router first and connect it to the mac pro via ethernet cable.

I want to have this :

MODEM->MAC PRO->ROUTER->wireless network.

I connect them but I do not know how to set up the network when it comes to the router (the second ethernet port)... I connect to its wifi via my iphone but the router is not able to share the internet connection from the Modem.

My IP (coming from the modem) is - *******

Thanx in advance!

I am on mac pro 1.1 and 10.6.8

System Preferences > Sharing > Internet Sharing

"Share" your Internet connection coming from Ethernet 1 out to devices on Ethernet 2. This automatically creates a software Router in your Mac Pro, and passes out DHCP "local" Addresses to all devices on Ethernet 2. If you have additional Gigabit Ethernet devices, you may need a separate SWITCH to connect them at Gigabit speeds. I use two such switches in my home Network.

On your Router, you should turn OFF its ability to pass out local Addresses via DHCP. If it were an Apple Router, this would be called "Bridge Mode".

NB> Cables for Gigabit Ethernet MUST have all 8 conductors present, and can NOT use Power-Over-Ethernet.

You can improve connection time by pre-configuring for manual data rate of Gigabit Ethernet, Full Duplex, Flow Control, and Jumbo (9000 byte) frames.

From the device doing the Sharing (Ethernet-2 in this case), it will always show a self-assigned IP Address. That is a feature.

What is important is the IP Address of the device trying to use the shared connection, such as your other computers. If that shows an IP address in the 192.168.2.xxx range, it is working correctly as far as that part goes.

Because I want to know how to do this.

And because my internet connexion is a gigabit one and my router is slowing it down a lot ( I get only

30-40 % of it). When the modem is connected to my mac pro I get almost the full speed.

Before buying a new expensive gigabit router (which is really a gigabit one) I want to share the wifi wirelessly

via the router conencted to the Ethernet port number 2. I could do this via airport but it only offers a Wep encryption...

Now, someone could help me on configuiring this or give me a link to a network forum that would be able to help me set it up (I made a lot of search on google but didn't find an answer) ?

Thanx
