iPhone still not recognized after erasing settings

I wanted to downgrade from 10 because my iPhone wasn't recognized since this update, so I erased everything and tried reinstalling the 9 Os backup from iTunes. But the iTunes still runs the same error "itunes could not connect because an invalid response was received from this device". I have the latest iTunes update. I do have iPhone under the USB tree. I don't know if I have third party security software installed, but I sure know I haven't done this myself. How do I go forth from this? No service center near in the next few weeks, so I'm lost.

iPhone 5, iOS 10.3.3

I am just trying to help you sort this out. You don't have to upgrade if you don't want to do so. You just won't be able to sync your phone with your Mac now. Not being able to sync with your computer doesn't render the phone useless. It just means that you will have to change the way that you are doing things with regard to backups and downloaded content.
