Can WIN 7 be installed on MacBook Air 2017 using bootcamp 5.1

I have a new MacBook Air running OS Sierra. I want to install Win 7 using bootcamp. The version of bootcamp on my Mac is Bootcamp 6. When I tried to install Win 7 it said I could only install Win 8 or later. I downloaded bootcamp 5.1 from the App Store. Can I use it to install Win 7.. If not how do I install Win 7. CAN IT BE DONE?

Sorry guys, but the definitive answer is "no."

Essentially the Bootcamp software provides compatibility drivers for your Mac hardware to / for Windows. And certain vintage hardware literally only has driver support for newer, specific versions of Windows.

Refer to Apple's official list of supported Windows versions for each Mac - those are hard-and-fast rules that cannot be broken.
