Itunes is issueing all sort of error messages suddenly
I don't know why, but Itunes has stopped working for me. In one form or another I've had it on my various PC's forever, and as of yesterday it was working just fine. Today I went to use it, and up popped this error message - ' api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing' . I did some research on this, and amongst other things read that Itunes itself can cause this problem, though I don't recall receiving any updates over the last couple of days. I tried deleting and installing, followed another path that suggested I needed to install the update for universal C runtime in Windows. That didn't work either because as soon as I tried installing the update up popped another error message
C:Users\tim\AppData\Local\Temp\Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu
Unspecified error
I tried loading in two older versions of Itunes, and each time they produced the following error message -
Warning 1946. Property 'System.AppUserModel.ID' for shortcut 'ITunes.Ink' could not be set.
After that the whole thing would roll back and produce a message telling me that the program couldn't install and to try again.
Now comes the weird bit. I tried reinstalling Itunes on my wife's computer (it was on there until recently and was working fine) and up came the same error message about the missing .dll file.
Is Itunes suddenly having an issue on both computers with the same version of Windows 7 that we use, or is it something else? I just can't figure this, especially as everything was fine in the last couple of days. I've also just noticed that the 'dll error message is also popping up at start up.
Can anyone help?
