Another similar over-view with a few extras can be found here:

There are details that make it easier to navigate using 'Go To Folder',

& Go in the Finder menu bar to locate Applications & other Folders.

I've used 'Easy Find' to perform internal searches in some of my Macs

but be careful because a find and remove utility can easily wipe out

important parts of your Mac OS X. ~ See Maker's site to get Easy Find:

And try 'Find any File' -- have a look at Thomas Tempelmann's [in app store Find Any File ].

OR download

Hopefully you'll have no issues in doing this. Was there a specific kind

of software you sought to remove from Snow Leopard 10.6.8..?

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂

Usually you just need to go in the "Application" folder and delete the app you don't need anymore.

Some applications unfortunately, creates subfolders in your Library (˜/Library) ... normally is easy to identify these folders because they have the name of the app or of the software house. You can also delete these folders (make sure to do it with "brain" ... I mean, if you have 3 Adobe apps you can't delete the entire adobe directory otherwise all other apps will have problem).

I suggest anyway to have a look here: http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/20/uninstall-mac-applications/

Thanks K Shaffer

Have noted all your suggestions and will give it a go and hopefully my issues will be solved. I just need to see what programs are on my Computer like I do on my Laptop Windows 10 and although I have Antivirus on both Computers I like to oversee for myself for something that should not be there. Now with your suggestions and another kind person Getangar I am sure I will be able to be on top of things. Keep up the good work.

Hi seventy one,

One of the reasons I purchased the iMac was because I was told that I did not need any Antivirus but over the years and recently things are getting out of hand and had read that even iMac was not going to be immune from Trojans, Malwares etc. So since 2016 I have MacKeeper installed. What have I done and if I have been an idiot what do I do? Wud appreciate your knowledgable feedback. Thanks a lot.

Hello Marty.

Yes, you picked one of the worst but don't feel a fool, many, many people have taken on this scam.

Try to download and apply this App, Malwarebytes. I am not sure if it is still available for 10.6.8 but if so it will guide you to MacKeeper removal. If your machine cannot take it, come back and one of us will guide you further. Unfortunately I am out for a while.

Hi seventy one,

I tried to download this App Malwarebytes but this installation requires macOS Yosemite(10.10),ElCapitan(10.11) or Sierra (10.12) none of which I have. So do I still need an Anti Virus for iMac or is there any other Anti Virus worth its name for my iMac as per your expertise? I only have Mackeeper till the end this year and you can bet I will not renew it and might even move it to Trash if you so recommend. I am in no rush so whenever you find the time to reply is good enough for me. Thanks mate.

I'm trying to get some help for you and if I am successful it may show up soon. !0.6.8 is now regarded as a Legacy system (though I am using it here) and as a result many facilities will not work. I am concerned about offering you one way of getting rid of MacKeeper because it means downloading it again and then following instructions to remove it by MacKeeper themselves.

None of us here trust MacKeeper or MacPaw or any of the group involved. You can't just take it to the trash; it leaves vestiges throughout the system.

And it does need to go.

Tell me the model of iMac you have so I can tell you if you can go to a higher OS. (Apple logo > About this Mac > and that will tell you.

Hi Eric and Seventy one,

Thanks for both your inputs. So if I use the Mackeeper Removal tool will it effect my subscription with them till the end of the year. It was my fault for getting sucked in when I was in a vulnerable situation and I suppose they prey on suckers like me. No fool like an old fool they say and it serves me right. Anyway I am indebted to guys like you who take the time to help computer illitrates like me. God Bless.

After I have removed Mackeeper would you guys think I need to look at any other AV's or is iMac danger proof!

Would appreciate any feedback.
