Pictures in texts blank?

Issue just started happening where I attach a picture to a text message and it will show up blank, like a bubble. Doesn't matter if sending to another iPhone or not. It seems to happen to images I've saved and then cropped. When I revert the image to original, then attach it to a text, it shows up fine?

Running iPhone 6 on iOS 10.3.3. Recently updated from 9.3.5 (never happened with iOS 9)
