Why does my iphone battery drain 50% overnight?

I have an IPhone 6s bought in September 2016. In the last week I've noticed that my battery is draining much quicker than usual. I thought it was maybe because I was travelling and roaming was off. But now I'm home, roaming is switched off, and I've noticed my phone is still losing 50% overnight while it is on standby. The battery usage says that the time spent on usage and on standby is exactly the same (9hrs 26min). This is also the amount of time passed since my last charge. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Hi

There is an iPhone 6s Program for Unexpected Shutdown Issues. Follow the instructions here to check your iPhone's eligibility for a free battery replacement and, if appropriate, to arrange service:

iPhone 6s Program for Unexpected Shutdown Issues - Apple Support

If your iPhone is not eligible for the program, then - depending on the nature of the issue - your iPhone may require battery service. Before contacting Apple, try the following steps:

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS (starting by making a backup):

Restart your iPhone (normally):

Check which apps are responsible for the battery usage:

  • Go to: Settings > Battery > under Battery Usage, select the Last 24 Hours tab.
  • Address any issues with potentially problematic apps (such as by removing and reinstalling them).

Follow Apple's tips for maximising battery life, as detailed here:

When charging your iPhone, follow the instructions in the following support article, including:

Check whether the issue persists after restoring your iPhone to factory settings:

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance, including - if recommended - to arrange for your iPhone to be checked and serviced:
