There is a big black spot on my ipod nano screeN!! PLease Help!

A while ago, a black spot started to appear on my ipod screen and over a couple of months it has expanded quite a bit. It's covering about 1/3 of my screen, meaning I can't see anything on the Ipod except black spots. Does anybody have any suggestions of what to do, why this is happening etc etc??

Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Ipod Nano 1st generation, Windows XP

I have had the ipod for over a year now and i can't exactly remember when it started. As to why I did not contact apple sooner, I thought it was something that would go away. As I am not a gadget freak, nor too interested or worried at that moment, i procrastinated and didn't do anything about it. My warranty is expired now, as it's only for a year. I guess what I am looking at now is the repair cost, or whether it can be actually fixed. And I did usually keep it in a pocket, but I had bought a case for it and I thought it would help. Apparently not.

I posted this response to you in another thread that you mentioned this in. Out of curiosity, if this began months ago why didn't you contact Apple about it? At that time it probably would have been a little more feasible to believe that it was something that randomnly occured rather than some sort or "human" caused screen damage.

Sounds like your screen sustained some sort of damage (similar to what would happen if your LCD screen cracked). This could have happened in different ways. If you carry it in your pocket or in a bag/purse and something heavy put pressure on it...the screen itself may not have any physical cracks. You can try and see if Apple will cover that under warranty but I wouldn't hold my breath. It doesn't seem like something that would easily occur by itself like a product defect. How long have you had your iPod and when did this occur?

Ok, you can do a google search for places that offer iPod repair services to see if they are cost efficient to you. If you go through Apple it will cost you $249 plus s/h...which is basically the price of a new 8bg nano. Not really worth it in my opinion. You may also find some of the threads on here that list places that do screen replacement services. I'm not much of a gadget freak either lol...but I probably would have been alarmed in the same situation just based on the cost of an iPod. To some people it's small change. To me, it's not!
