iTunes not allowing me to change album artwork

Hello,

I am one of those people that are paranoid if their music or contacts do not have photos or album artwork.

I just imported several old CD's which are not on iTunes Store, so naturally there is no Album Artwork. I am well familiar with adding artwork however, specifically by right clicking on album>Get Info> Edit Items> Artwork> Add Artwork or "drag to box". for the first couple CD's, I added the artwork, and upon hitting "Okay" it permanently saved, no issues. However, after 3 CD's, iTunes quit saving the artwork I added. I would go to the Artwork Tab, insert the Artwork image through means of manually "Add Artwork" and dragging it to the big display box or the icon box in the top left of the "Get Info" window. It loaded in the box, and looked fine. Upon hitting "Okay", the window would close, and even though it takes time for the artwork to load sometimes, these did not load. Pulling up the "Get Info" again, there was no artwork. It did not save.

I then went and installed the latest Sierra, and there were no iTunes updates. No Luck.

It IS NOT a file issue. After 8 or 9 attempts, I went under "Get Info" of one of the 3 albums that saved their artwork successfully, and swapped their artwork out for the ones that apparently would not load. Not only did it save with the images that did not work for the other albums, but it even let me change it again to the correct artwork, and saved.

I tried deleting the "faulty" album from the library, and then manually re-added it, filling in the artist, album, and all the track numbers. Despite being a whole new album, it STILL will not Save the album artwork! This is happening for 3 albums IN A ROW, plus one which I just imported, and it will not save the artwork either.

PLEASE HELP

Richie

Ah, the penny drops. You cannot add custom artwork to tracks in .wav format. These don't have a tag and any metadata that you enter is only stored in the iTunes library. iTunes has a feature that may associate artwork from the store with tracks in various formats, including .wav, but there isn't a way for you to select what image is used. You can however remove store downloaded artwork if you wish. Convert the files to Apple Lossless or AIFF to be able to embed your own art.

So...I have this exact issue, but my files are mp3 and I can add comments and modify them. Just cant add the album art to the Album Folder in iTunes. If I look at the file or song itself and goto artwork the add artwork button is grayed out. So far after adding my old MP3 folder with so many ripped CD's in it to iTunes this is the only one giving me trouble. I've tried playing with permissions of the windows folders, but they are the same as the other folders within the MP3 directory and as such shouldn't give me trouble, so now I'm confused. Also, I have been trying to fix some of my music files with a Tag Editor so as to save me some time in iTunes and when I load this folder into it, it shows as if the album art is there already. I have removed it from there and then saved it and then deleted and re-added it back to iTunes as well in every scenario possible. I do IT for a living as well.
