Does your iPhone have to be connected to WiFi to do a factory reset?

Im about to do a factory reset on my iPhone 5 to fix an issue and this is my last option. I have a question though...do you have to be connected to WiFi to do a factory reset? That's why I am resetting it, to fix a WiFi issue. And it seems to me that it wouldn't need to be connected, since everything will be wiped off anyway and that would include WiFi passwords.
