how play a TrueHD and DTS-HA on my iMac 2017?

Dear all,

I'm watching movies lot through my iMac, and I'm using a great sound system 7.1ch. When I played Dolby or DTS 5.1ch movie every thing are awesome. However, when I played Dolby TrueHd or DTS-HA it went wrong. I can't play a TrueHd or DTS-HA. Anyone knows?

If you are looking for passthrough of those audio formats to

your audio system, your out of luck. The graphics chips in the

iMac (as well as most any other computer) lack what is known as

a "protected audio path". There are only a handful of computer GPUs

that support it.

What you would require is software that has licensed CODECs that

can decode into multichannel PCM. You would then need to find

an HDMI adapter (HDMI can support 24bit, 192KHz, 7.1) or a USB3

adapter to provide 7.1 audio out.

It doesn't state in the specs whether the 3.5mm line out still supports

optical, but even if it did, it does not have the bandwidth for these higher

quality audio formats (limitation of the TOSLINK technology, not the Mac).
