Hi pmeichtry. As I said previously, you can use the Apple Digital A/V adapter to display the iPad screen on a monitor or TV set. You will see the 4x3 image of the iPad filling the height of the monitor. If you play a video it should use the video's aspect ratio. The iPad screen image is sent to the adapter as h.264 video, so the result may be a little blurred in fine details, like characters. Note that iPad sound will also be sent to the HDMI connection, so you wnat a monitor with speakers (TV set is best). You cannot use any external touch screen with the iPad, so you will continue to interact with the iPad touch screen.

Your iPad screen is 4x3, so it won't fill a 16x9 (widescreen) monitor. Also, you'll still need to use the iPad touchscreen for interaction; there's no mouse cursor.

Are there any specific external monitor specifications that I need to consider when purchasing an external monitor to display Ipad Pro screen information? Can I purchase an external touchscreen monitor and connect it to my Ipad Pro and use the touchscreen capability on the external monitor to control the touchscreen capability on the Ipad Pro?

I don't know what you think an iPad or an iPad Pro is or what it is capable or NOT capable of, but iPads aren't full laptop replacements...yet!

iOS has a lot of limitations compared to a full computer OS.

You can't control an iPad from a full computer, even a computer with touchscreen capabilities.
