Garage Band show download progress Bar

Garage Band 10.1.6:

Does anyone know how to make the downloads progress bar perpetually visible?

The only time I ever get to see it is when I try to quit and I get a choice to continue the download. If I elect to continue, I see the progress bar only briefly and the the project chooser shows up, with no way to see the progress bar.
