Why are my received text messages being forwarded as emails?

It is imessages btw. I am able to receive messages in the Messages app, however I am also getting text messages received in my email inbox. Why is this happening? The email addresses are from phone carrier user email addresses such as **********@mms.att.net (AT&T User MMS email).

How do I stop this from happenning? The sender is also an immessages user.

Hi adtse ,

I understand that you are receiving email messages from a phone number that is tied to a contact that also uses iMessage . I'm happy to provide some help for this.

Based on what you've described, it sounds like this contact may be trying to send an iMessage to your email address without it being one of the ways you can be reached. To change this, open Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your email to enable it, or tap "Add Another Email..." if it's not listed.
