Apple Pencil 5% Charge Warning

My Apple Pencil is somewhere in the house. I haven't seen it in nearly a month.

Then last night when I opened my iPad Pro 12.9 2017 it showed a notification that my lost Apple Pencil was down to a 5% charge.

I am wondering how to use this information to locate my Apple Pencil. Answers to the following questions might help.

Questions:

1) When does an Apple Pencil go to sleep?

2) What might wake the Pencil up?

3) When the charge goes to 5%, who gets the broadcast and at what range?

4) After making the 5% broadcast, does the Pencil go back to sleep?

5) Can a sleeping Pencil be found with an app like Bluetooth Smart Scanner by Ace Sensor?

6) Does the location where I saw the notification of Apple Pencil 5% charge when I opened my iPad Pro help to locate the Pencil? Or, could the notification have been transmitted and received when the iPad Pro was in a different part of the house, and saved in the iPad until I moved it and opened the iPad some time later?

Or, the iPad was very close to the Pencil when the warning was received.

Since there is no time stamp indicated on the Apple Pencili 5% charge warning, nor is there any way to see a log of Notifications on the iPad, I have to guess where in the house the iPad might have been sleeping when the 5% charge warning was transmitted, received, and saved for later display to me.
