icloud password vs appleid password

I can't log into my mac after being forced to change my Apple ID password. The MAC says icloud password is problem but every time I follow direction to change this I end up at an Apple ID password reset which is not what's keeping me from being able to log into my mac

Apple ID password is the same thing as the iCloud password. The following two links should help you.
